Imposter Classroom Live Game • Grades 3–6 MEXT

Imposter: The Elementary ESL Deduction Game

Turn target language drills into high-energy communicative battles. One secret student in every squad is the Imposter who must lie convincingly—can their classmates spot them?

How It Works

3 Simple Steps
📱

1. Instant QR & PIN

Teacher creates a room for the day's unit. Project the 6-digit PIN and QR code on the smartboard for 1-tap tablet join.

🎴

2. Secret Digital Cards

Students take turns asking the target question. Regulars read their digital cards; the secret Imposter must bluff using target grammar!

🗳️

3. Vote & Dramatic Reveal

Squads cast secret ballots on their tablets. If the squad catches the Imposter, they pass! If not, the Imposter wins the round!

Latest Version
📍 2021: Higashi Kagawa City (Original Card Game) 💻 2022: Ayagawa (First Digital Version to Reduce Prep Time) 🚀 Today: Latest Version (Real-time GIGA Tablet Multiplayer)

I originally created this Imposter activity as a physical card game in 2021 while working in Higashi Kagawa City. To reduce preparation time for printing, laminating, and sorting cards, I created the first digital version in 2022 while teaching in Ayagawa. This is the latest version, optimized for classroom smartboards and 1-to-1 GIGA school tablets.

🎯 Supports Speaking & Listening Practice: Key Learning Goals

🗣️
Speaking with a Clear Voice
Encourages students to project their voice and pronounce target vocabulary clearly so squad peers can evaluate clues.
👀
Making Eye Contact
Prompts students to look up from screens, engage directly with classmates, and observe facial expressions and body language.
🧠
Recalling Prior Learned Info
Motivates learners to actively retrieve and produce previously learned vocabulary and phrases to craft convincing bluffs.
