UFC 305: Dricus du Plessis Defends Title by Submission
At UFC 305 in Perth, Dricus du Plessis defended his middleweight title by submitting Israel Adesanya in the fourth round of their intense battle. I was heartbroken to see my boy Adesanya defeated.
\n\nThroughout the fight, both fighters exchanged powerful blows. Du Plessis managed to turn the tide late in the fourth round with a stunning left hook followed by three right punches, bringing Adesanya to the ground. Du Plessis secured a rear-naked choke from there, forcing Adesanya to tap out.
\n\nIn the post-fight interviews, Adesanya acknowledged the mistake that cost him the fight but remained optimistic about his future in the sport. \"I knew it was going to be tough. I just made a stupid, dumb mistake on the ground,\" he said. At 35, Adesanya feels he's in his prime and isn't planning on leaving the sport anytime soon.
\n\nAs a fan, I sincerely hope it's true due to his undeniable contributions to the sport. With that said, I cannot withhold any congratulations from Du Plessis and maintain my integrity as he gave one hell of a performance in the octagon and proved once again why he bears the title of Middleweight Champion.
